Islamabad Model College for Boys H-9 Islamabad hosted Annual Intercollegiate English Speech Contest on Thursday, February 2, 2023. The contest titled “I Have a Dream...For Pakistan.” The competition was a continuation of last year's intercollegiate debate among the intermediate students of federal educational institutions.
Renowned educationist Prof. Dr. Ali Ahmed Kharal (former Director General Education), Principal Islamabad College for Students G-6/3 Islamabad graced the event as the Chief Guest. The jury of the event comprised two linguists: Prof. Rooh-ul-Amin, Head, Department of English, Federal Government College of Education H-9, Islamabad and Ms. Nighat Yasmin, English Specialist from Islamabad Model College for Boys I-8/3 Islamabad. Fourteen (14) colleges of the capital participated in the contest.

The ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Hafiz Zakir Pathan, a student of 1st Year , recited the Holy Quran. Muhammad Ramzan Saifi, a student of 2nd Year ICS, recited the naat in the praise of Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon him), written by Khwaja Ghulam Farid. Hazrat Khwaja Ghulam Farid Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh's naatiya kalam "Aa Meda Dhola Karan Baithi Zari" created a state of spiritual ecstasy among the audience.
Later, fiery speeches of the contestants from fourteen (14) colleges (male & female) poured in and the young contestants expressed their views in a befitting manner. First position was clinched by Ms. Mahnoor Niazi, a student of Islamabad Model Postgraduate College for Girls F7/2, Islamabad. Syed Muhammad Yasir Shah of Islamabad Model College for Boys (IMCB) H-9 Islamabad (Host College) bore away 2nd position. However, as a token of hospitality and gratitude, Prof. Javaid Iqbal Mughal— the principal of the host college, surrendered this position and this runner-up/ 2nd position was shifted down to Ms. Hamna Nasir (winner of 3rd Position in original) of Islamabad College for Girls (ICG) F-6/2 Islamabad. After the surrender of 2nd position from the host college, the third position was budged down to Mr. Mansoor Afzal (the winner of 4th position in original) of Islamabad College for Boys (ICB) G-6/3. Shields were also awarded to the speakers taking the positions i.e. Ms. Mahnoor Niazi (1st Position), Ms. Hamna Nasir (2nd Position) and Mr. Mansoor Afzal (3rd Position).

This Annual Intercollegiate Speech Competition was organized by the Department of English Language and Literature of IMCB H-9 Islamabad. The whole department Professor Habib Ullah Aziz (Focal Person), Prof. Syed Abu Zar Bacha, Prof. Saleem Akhtar, Prof. Muhammad Waseem, Prof. Arslan Ali, and Prof. Fakhar-ul-Hassan Gardezi worked hard under the dynamic headship of Prof. Syed Manzar Zafar Kazmi. Prof. Vice Principal (Academic) Prof. Ghulam Qadir Abbasi and Vice Principal (Admin) Prof. Ahmed Jamal left no stone unturned to make this event a success.
Prof. Dr. Ali Ahmed Kharal, Chief Guest congratulated Prof. Javaid Iqbal Mughal on the successful and graceful conduct of the event; he attributed the constructive change in IMCB H-9 to the dynamic leadership of Prof. Javaid Iqbal Mughal, the dedication of teaching faculty, and the whole-hearted hard work of IMCB H-9 students.

Principal Prof. Javaid Iqbal Mughal thanked the Chief Guest, honorable judges Prof. Rooh Ul Amin and Mrs. Nighat Yasmeen, guest teachers and participants of the speech contest. He attributed this success to the team work of the teaching faculty of IMCB H-9 under the leadership of Prof. Ahmed Jamal (Vice Principal Admin) and Prof. Ghulam Qadir Abbasi (Vice Principal Academic). He thanked Prof Manzar Zafar Kazmi (HoD English) , prof Muhammad Habib Ullah Aziz (Focal Person), Prof. Amjad Awan, Prof. Naib Ali Toori, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Imran, Prof. Zaheer Abbas, Prof. Salah-ud-Din Khisraw , Prof. Shahid Ejaz , Mr. Rashid Mehmood Kayani , the whole non-teaching staff and Students Council whose dedication made this event a success. He congratulated the winners and encouraged all the participants as well. He held that he has firm faith in the talent of young students who matter to Pakistan, now and in future.
